Plagued by game disqualifications and illness, the Monroe Falcons Varsity squad endured a tough winter recess. Scoring 20 times and surrendering 26, the Falcons went 2 - 2 in the process. The Falcons winter recess included two victories versus Nottingham and two losses versus Governor Livingston and Arthur L. Johnson.
Recess began with an afternoon game at The Lawrenceville School versus Nottingham where the Falcons, despite a short bench, won 7 - 3. Falcon goals were scored by Jon Roman (2), Artie Thompson (2), Stan Monak (2) and Dylan Henning. Adding assists were Jon Roman (3), David Knotts, Brandon Domilici (2) and Artie Thompson. Justin Pieron made 11 saves through 2 periods for the Falcons and Chris Eidlen, in his varsity debut, made 4 saves in the third period.
The next two games would see the Falcons short bench pushed to their limits as they skated with 9 skaters for both games. Despite strong first periods in both matches, the Falcons could not keep up with the full bench of their opponents. The Falcons lost 10-0 to Governor Livingston and 11-1 to Arthur L. Johnson. David Knotts scored the lone goal for the Falcons. Goaltender John Carroll made a total of 65 saves in the games.
The Falcons finished their recess with a Friday afternoon game versus Nottingham where they won 12-2. Scoring goals for the Falcons were Artie Thompson (5), Jon Roman (4), Stan Monak (2) and David Knotts. Adding assists were Brandon Domilici (2), Artie Thompson (2), Jon Roman (3), Tyler Kavalar, Dylan Henning and David Knotts. John Carroll made 4 saves in the win.
The team's overall record is now 3-4-1 and they will faceoff versus the Howell Rebels on Tuesday evening at Gold Coast Arena.
